About Pete
I am a painter who explores perception, treating physical and pictorial space as fluid and experienced rather than fixed. Using line, colour, and geometric forms, I create illusionistic compositions that unsettle spatial certainty and question what the eye believes it sees. Through this, I examine the space between seeing and feeling, understanding that perception is both cognitive and emotional.
Diagnosed with cancer at five, I spent much of my childhood in the hospital, where music and art therapy became a refuge. They offered a way to process what I could not yet articulate and opened a sense of experience beyond the physical body—something creative and infinite. That early encounter continues to shape my life and practice.
I studied Fine Art at Falmouth University, graduating in 2008. I then spent the next 16 years working in hospitality, and in 2024, I committed to being a full-time artist. My studio is at Black Swan Arts.
